How to use the word "waive" in this case?

Though it has an unusual ring to it, to have your request granted, you might be better advised to use the word `excuse`. In this case, conformity to grammatical use may serve your cause better than the lovely word `waive`.... which is more poetic in current use, or used only as a plea in having debts or misdemeanours `waived`. Sorry......
